HARARE, (CAJ News) – THE United Kingdom (UK) has delisted sanctions against some four Zimbabwean individuals and the entity Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI).
Those removed from the list are Godwin Matanga, Isaac Moyo, Owen Ncube and Anselem Sanyatwe.
The revocations follow a similar move from the European Union (EU) in February 2025, when they delisted their last remaining entity (ZDI) while renewing their existing Zimbabwe sanctions framework.
“The US also removed a number of designations in March 2024,” stated the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The UK and United States, among other countries, have imposed sanctions against Zimbabwean individuals and entities it felt perpetrated the violation of human rights.
Most are members of the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union- Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF).
This was at the height of the presidency of Robert Mugabe, who in 2000 endorsed the takeover of white-owned farms without compensation.
Current leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has sought to smoothen relations with these Western countries.
