DAKAR, (CAJ News) – THE provider of solar home systems in Africa, Solar Panda, has expanded to Senegal.
This marks a foray into West Africa by the company that is headquartered in Kenya and Canada.
Officials said the expansion marked an important milestone in the company’s mission to bring clean, reliable and affordable electricity to off-grid households across the continent.
To lead this new chapter, Solar Panda has appointed Martin Lemaire as Managing Director for Senegal.
According to the company, he brings extensive experience in the solar energy and last-mile distribution sector and is well-positioned to drive the company’s growth and impact in the country.
“With our superior products and commitment to customer service, we believe Solar Panda is a perfect fit for families across Senegal. This launch represents a key step in our broader expansion across Africa, and Martin brings the leadership and experience we need in this new market,” said Andy Keith, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Solar Panda.
Solar Panda reports it has powered over 350 000 homes in Kenya.
The firm mostly provides systems to rural African communities without access to electricity.
Over 30 percent of rural communities lack connectivity.
The country plans to increase renewable energy to 40 percent of its generation mix by 2030.
