KHARTOUM, (CAJ News) – THE UN has expressed grief after a massive landslide in Tarsin village, Jebel Marra claimed between 300 and 1,000 lives this past weekend following heavy rains in conflict-hit Darfur.
UN Resident Coordinator Luca Renda said humanitarian partners were mobilising to assist survivors.
Sudan is already battling one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with more than 10 million displaced by the civil war that erupted in 2023. The disaster adds pressure to relief operations already hampered by insecurity and funding shortfalls.
