BEIJING, (CAJ News) – THE Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force has staged an impressive display of combat readiness at the 2025 Aviation Open Day and Changchun Air Show, which runs for five days with free public access.
Since its launch in 2011, the open day has become a key platform for the PLA to demonstrate advances in equipment, training, and strategy.
This year, more than 100 aircraft and systems are on display, alongside aerobatic performances designed to replicate real battlefield conditions.
Highlights included the YU-20A aerial tanker executing serpentine maneuvers at just 200 meters, demonstrating its ability to evade ground fire.
The aircraft also performed steep turns, dives, and dual-point refueling drills with J-16 fighters, reflecting frontline combat training.
Meanwhile, J-10 jets showcased low-speed, high-angle-of-attack flights to simulate penetration in complex terrain.
The show also featured integrated formations, such as a KJ-500 early warning aircraft flying with four J-20 stealth fighters in a simulated strike mission.
For the first time, the J-20 was also displayed on the ground, signaling growing transparency and confidence in China’s air power.
Experts say the event underscores Beijing’s focus on modernization, innovation, and strategic projection.
