PRETORIA, (CAJ News) – NISSAN South Africa has been recognised for its commitment to gender transformation, receiving the Transformation: Women Empowering Award for Manufacturing OEMs at the prestigious NAAMSA Accelerator Awards.
The awards, presented by the National Association of Automotive Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA), celebrate outstanding contributions to the automotive industry.
This year, Nissan was nominated for both Top Exported Vehicle of the Year and Transformation: Women Empowering Award, with the latter marking a significant milestone in the company’s diversity journey.
Nissan Africa President Jordi Vila and Manager for External and Government Affairs Tiisetso Kwape accepted the award during a gala ceremony concluding SA Auto Week 2025 in Gqeberha.
“Transformation is not a checkbox for us; it’s a core part of how we operate and lead,” said Vila.
“Empowering women is essential to building a sustainable, future-ready automotive industry.”
Echoing this, Kholo Kunene, Nissan Africa’s Human Resources Director, said the award affirmed the company’s vision to create spaces where women can “develop, grow and thrive.”
The recognition follows Nissan’s recent selection as a finalist in the Standard Bank Top Women Awards, underscoring its continued leadership in workplace diversity and inclusion.
