The African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Executive Committee of AFRIMA confirmed the new dates after consultations with partners, artists, and stakeholders across Africa and the diaspora.
Originally slated for late November 2025, the rescheduled event promises an even grander experience for music lovers, industry players, and fans around the world.
Ms. Angela Martins, Acting Director of Social Development, Culture and Sports at the African Union, said the AU remains proud to support AFRIMA as it amplifies African creativity on a global scale.
“This partnership reinforces the AU’s Agenda 2063 and the Cultural Policy for Africa, which recognise the creative industry as a catalyst for sustainable development and youth empowerment,” Martins said.
“AFRIMA continues to showcase Africa’s unity, diversity, and innovation through music.”
Nde Ndifonka, AFRIMA’s Regional Director for Central Africa and Cameroonian musician popularly known as Wax Dey, said the new dates will ensure broader participation and enhance production quality.
“AFRIMA is not just an award show — it’s Africa’s global music stage,” Ndifonka said. “Rescheduling allows us to deliver a world-class celebration that truly reflects Africa’s creative power.”
