JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) THE added incentives of R25 000 to a player for each goal he scores, and R25 000 as once-off prize money for the Man of the Match have set the stage for a thrilling MTN 8 final on Saturday evening.

Kickoff between Highlands Park and Supersport United is at 18h00 at the Orlando Stadium.

MTN and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) counterpart announced the new incentives on Thursday.

The monetary reward for every goal each player scores during regulation times excludes penalties and own goals. The reward is anticipated to motivate the players to score, in a league with a knack of blunt strikers.

MTN has also increased the best player of the match from R8 000.

These prizes mark the 12th year of MTN successfully hosting this tournament in the year that the organisation celebrates 25 years of existence.

“This year’s MTN8 Final is extra special to us as it takes place in a year that we are celebrating 25-years of brightening the lives of our customers and football fans,” said Mapula Bodibe, Executive Consumer at MTN SA she said.

Bodibe said the company had lined up exciting rewards to celebrate with customers and football fans.

“This is to thank them for enabling us to reach this milestone,” she said.

Through the “Own your Game” initiative, fans are given the opportunity to be a part of the tournament decisions throughout the period.

Through this campaign, fans are given the power of choice and control on elements such as: the power to choose their Favourite Legends, the Man of the Match for all the games, Moments of Brilliance and their MTN Fantasy Team.
