DURBAN, (CAJ News) -THE Sweetdale Night Market has grown vastly since its establishment in 2022, with the number of traders trebled to more than 50.

It was opened in March that year, with 19 traders.

The Packshed, in the coastal town of Margate, hosts the market, which is always on the last Friday of the month from 18h00 to 22h00.

“The idea of Sweetdale Night Market was first discussed in late 2021,” Daniel Kern, owner of the Packshed and Night Market, said.

“We wanted to create this safe and fun space to experience the best the coast has to offer. It is a perfect spot for get-together, socialising and networking,” he added.

Kern said visitors can expect to see local craft businesses showcasing food, handmade products and art among others.

“The aim of the market is to focus on supporting local businesses and the community and to provide guests with unique, memorable experiences. Another big aim is to bring people together for socialising and networking.”

There is also live entertainment. Entrance is free. The market has quickly become a calendar favourite selling high-quality goods and international cuisine. At the site is the award-winning local restaurant, Serenity Hills.

It is hailed as the perfect space for families to enjoy meals, featuring cuisine from around the globe, with a broad range of wine, craft gins and beers on offer.

The market is pet-friendly, with 24-hour security. It is fully operational throughout load shedding.
