DURBAN, (CAJ News) – THE annual KwaMashu Spar white party has grown in leaps and bounds since its establishment.

The sixth edition of the event has just been held.

When it started, it only had 21 people.

“Last year we had about 600 to 800 people,” store manager Harold Moikabi said.

“This year it grew as we have about 1300 people,” he added.

I believe we have achieved our goal with the event. Next year we want to change the initiative,” Moikabi said.

The store plans to invite pensioners to benefit from blankets, groceries and clothes. It also aims to invite over 500 disabled people and provide them with wheelchairs.

At the recent white party, there were more than 20 stalls, showcasing different brands of alcohol, vapour, food, music and entertainment.

Over 1 000 people ate and drank for free.

According to the management, the aim of the event was to connect to the market to engage with their customers outside of work.

KwaMashu Spar gave back to the community and thanked customers for all the support they gave to the store.

Andile Lushozi, account manager of alcohol brand, Haus, said they were showcasing for the second time.

The brand was launched in 2021.

“People seem to like our brand as they keep returning to taste all the flavours,” Lushozi said.

Haus is produced in Germany. It is an Italian inspired sparkling wine in a 220ml can, available in three variants.

Mandla Mchunu is among those who attended for the first time.

“It is my first time attending the event, when everything is free, especially alcohol. It is unbelievable,” Mchunu said.
