DURBAN, (CAJ News) – THE spates of killings in Durban are deterring tourists from visiting the coastal city.

Lately the townships KwaMashu, Ntuzuma and Inanda have been in the news for killings.

Durban Tourism is working with nine local Community Tourism Organisations (CTOs) in order to promote local attractions and position destination Durban.

Inanda, Ntuzuma, and KwaMashu CTO bring an exclusive Dayscape Picnic taking place at the outdoor events area with a perfectly manicured garden located at Kilborne’s Nest in Inanda, on 29 October.

The exclusive Dayscape Picnic is set to be an unforgettable event.

“The day filled with fantastic music, delicious food, and the beautiful ambience of the perfectly manicured garden.”

Starting from 10h00 and running until the early evening, this festive launch event in Durban’s true North is not to be missed, stated Durban Tourism.

Some people expressed their disappointment for the event to be hosted in the township, because of high crime.

Vee Dilarajh said: “Go there if you have a death wish. I know people who had frightening experiences in townships because SAPS (South African Police Service) cannot control the crime there. News yesterday about killings in KwaMashu (is a fresh reminder of crime). Get crime under control and then we’ll believe you.”

A travel company, Woza Enanda, assured customers of safety.
